First Cyber Security Summit Held at Tarčin Forest Resort: Focus on Challenges and Solutions in Cybersecurity

In the beautiful setting of the Tarčin Forest Resort hotel, the first Cyber Security Summit was held on November 30, 2021 — an event dedicated to key challenges and solutions in the field of cybersecurity in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Although there is still a perception in the local business environment that organizations are small and uninteresting to cyber attackers, the data presented painted a completely different picture. According to available indicators, the average company in BiH is targeted by potential attacks as many as 1,513 times per week, while direct financial damages for companies in the Federation of BiH are estimated to reach between 2 and 3 million BAM. Particularly concerning is the significant lack of qualified cybersecurity professionals.

The event brought together experts from various industries, who delivered engaging presentations on topics such as:

  • challenges companies face in the field of cybersecurity,
  • the most common types of attacks on local organizations,
  • the concept of a “Zero Trust” culture and its application in system protection,
  • risks related to outsourcing business functions.

Participants also had the opportunity to hear about concrete activities that the company Alem Sistem is implementing to support small and medium-sized enterprises.

The event received strong support from renowned companies such as NLB Bank, Siemens Rail Mobility, BH Telecom, and IBM Security, which also served as the event’s general sponsor.

Due to current epidemiological measures, the number of participants was limited, and all registrations were closed before the event started. The Summit once again confirmed the need for such gatherings, which raise awareness of the importance of cybersecurity and strengthen the resilience of local organizations to digital threats.
